Northern Ireland Day 1

After a short flight from Heathrow to Belfast, the group made our first stop at the spectacular Titanic Museum.  The museum nestles amidst the historic dockyard, surrounded by cranes that stoop to the water’s surface like iron flamingos.

The pupils were suitably impressed by the exhibits, but also touched by the personal stories of tragedy and heroism that unfolded during their tour.  From Belfast we travelled by coach through the rolling green countryside of Antrim to reach our home for the week at Whitepark Bay.  Our host Angela greeted us with a heart-warming chicken curry before we braved some mild rain to enjoy the beach.  Enthusiasm unabated, children played in the sand and surf until the adults felt too cold to watch them any longer.  A promising first day!
